This session was talking about all the great powerhouse research centers in the country dealing with the issue of biofuel. This center in particular is based out of the University of Wisconsin- Madison, and is a collaboration of over 400 scientists and staff from academia, industry, and the government. They work on the questions of how to improve conversion from plants to the sugars to biofuel to human usage of this fuel. They are using this knowledge to improve sustainability of cellulosic biofuel cropping systems. Their projects range from genomic to cell engineering to sustainability questions. These centers can generate some unique and comprehensive research given their vast size, scale, and resources. With the best of the best collaborating to work on this issues progress is being made everyday to finding the right combination for effective biofuels.
